Join us to usher in the the Jewish New Year with
reflection, community and the call of the shofar.

Congregation Leyv Ha-Ir ~ Heart of the City invites our members and the larger community to join us for High Holy Days services.  Services will be led by Rabbi Julie Greenberg with Kohenet Avra Shapiro.  We will be in person at the First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia at 2125 Chestnut St., and will livestream the services online.  First Unitarian is a beautiful, spacious place that is fully handicap accessible.  Face masks will be optional.

This year we will be broadcasting our services via livestream rather than on Zoom.  You will still be able to watch, listen and follow along with our services, although live participation will not be possible.  All speakers and readers will be in person.

Pre-registration is RECOMMENDED here.  While we like to welcome everyone, for security reasons we need your registration at least one day in advance. If not pre-registered, you will be asked to show photo ID upon arrival.

As is our custom, we do not sell tickets nor charge a fee to attend our services.  However, we strongly encourage donations from our guests to support these services as well as all of our programming throughout the year.  These guidelines are provided as suggested minimum amounts:

1 person: $200
2 or more people: $150 per adult

Please click here to make a contribution, or you can do it as part of your registration.  We accept payment by credit card or check mailed to Leyv Ha-Ir, P.O. Box 15836, Philadelphia, PA 19103.

We welcome everyone regardless of their ability to contribute financially.

There are 2 parking options available:

  1. We have approval for a very limited number of on-street parking spaces.  Please review and print the information here, and place both pages on your dashboard if parking in the designated areas.

  2. There are many parking lots and garages in the area. It seems as though Patriot Parking at 2101 Sansom St. has the best rates.

There are 3 SEPTA bus lines that run on Chestnut St. and several more on Market, Walnut, 21st and 22nd Streets. Suburban and 30th Street Stations are less than a mile away.
