  Join us for a virtual program for the Jewish holiday of Tisha B'Av, a day of collective mourning.  Our service will be led by Rabbi Aviva Marchione, who was our Shabbat morning service leader. 

  We will chant Eicha, the Book of Lamentations, and contemplate what we are mourning individually and collectively. You are invited to darken your room and light a candle. Some people sit on the ground - do what works for you.

  As a way of being in the mourning container of the holiday, we do not socialize on Tisha B'av, so there will be no socializing after the program. 

  LHI members will automatically be sent the remote access information.

  Do you love to read?  Are you interested in books of Jewish themes?  Come join Leyv Ha-Ir's Book Group!  Our lively, interesting and insightful monthly Book Group discussions are led Carol Kaplan and other book group participants. 

  We meet on the the fourth Monday of the month, July 22, on Zoom, from 7:00 - 8:00 pm ET.  

  In July, the Book Group is discussing Unorthodox by Deborah Feldman. 
  

  This program is free, although a donation of $18 is suggested for guests who are not LHI members to attend these programs.

  Join us as we welcome Rabbi Julie back from her summer break.  We'll enjoy a nice brunch, then Rabbi will lead us in a discussion of our One Book for this year, Loving Our Own Bones: Disability Wisdom and the Spiritual Subversiveness of Knowing Ourselves Whole, by Julia Watts Belser.  And, we will learn from each other.

  Belser is a Jewish scholar and disability rights activist based at Georgetown University. The book is theologically brilliant, deeply personal and relevant to anyone who is living a human life. None of us is permanently able-bodied, and we can all grow in helping to build a world where every person is supported to thrive and every person is supported to participate fully in communal life. Let's start reading now!

  This program will be in person and on Zoom.  The Zoom link will be sent to all members and registrants.  Please plan to attend in person if possible so you can join us in community.

  There is no charge, although donations from our guests who are not members are suggested.
